9 month stats...

(This post was started on Friday and I just got around to finishing it. Sorry!) I love Laela days! Today we went to the doctor, shopped a bit and spent some time at home. Here is Laela playing at home...
and at the doctor's office...
It did not take Laela long to find the band-aid on her leg. She decided that she did not want it on the boo-boo, but in a new spot. This spot looks good... Stats for 9 months:
Weight: 22lbs 13oz (95th percentile)
Length: 28 1/2 inches (78th percentile)
Head Circumference: 18 1/4 inches (95th percentile)
All of that means...Laela is holding strong on her weight and only gained 3 lbs in the last 3 months. Her length is definitely favoring her dad. She did grow another 1 1/2 inches since her 6 month appointment. WOW! This girl's brains are growing...thus leading to why she has a big head! :)
Vaccines: Today she got the Hep B vaccine and a finger prick to check her iron levels. Doctor thinks she will be fine because she is already eating meats.
Food: Right now Laela is eating 3 meals a day with a bottle at each one. Also, she has a morning snack and afternoon consisting of puffs, cherrios, and yogurt melts, as well as drinking juice from her sippy cup. All of these snacks are ones that she has to pick up with her little fingers and they need to be chewed a little. She can eat snacks for hours if we would let her!
Gross motor: Laela has perfected sitting up. Really, she prefers sitting to tummy time or crawling...I guess the reason why she is not crawling yet. I feel like she is preparing because we have watched her on the monitor get up onto all fours, but she just rocks back and forth or scoots backward. When she is playing on the floor, she will stay on her belly for a bit, but not long. When she does, she will rotate around and scoot back, but no crawling yet. We talked to the doctor about this and she said we could have someone come to our house for an evaluation to see if Laela would qualify for therapy. We decided against that. The doctor agrees with our theory that Laela may just be LAZY for now. She will crawl and walk when she is ready, it just may be a little later than others. Enough about moving legs...let me tell you about her hands. She will stare at her hands for 10 minutes if we let her. It is so funny, but anyway...she waves at everyone and she will clap when you clap or when you say "clap". Little hands clapping are so darn cute!
Fine motor: Again, she is picking up her snacks and making it to her mouth at least 90% of the time. She is also very particular about how she picks up toys and playing with things. She loves to touch and feel everything with her little pinchers and her hand-eye coordination is great!
Cognitive and speech: Laela babbles all the time. Right now she makes a lot of da-da sounds, but she will do it when Ro walks in the room too. Because of that I feel she "knows" da-da. Also, when she sees the dog she immediately says "d". So...we are working on "og". Just today she started "b" sounds and it is funny. Oh...if you catch her at the right time, she will say "hi" and "bye". I know...sounds crazy, but it has happened several times with witnesses around! And course...we are still working on "m" sounds too...MA-MA will be her next word...I just know it! Doctor said all of her babbling and words will lead to great cognition and brain power. YEA! We want a big, smart brain.
Favorite past time: People watching with her mommy...we are going to make a great pair!

Don't worry about her gross motor skills. She's a big kiddo and will move when she's ready. Jacks was the same...we used to call him the Big Buddha. :) And he didn't crawl until he was 10 months. She's doing GREAT!!!
